Discovery, reputation and evolution are all downstream of an agent's ability to be paid and to be punished. Build that first.

Agents need lineage

A genome, memory and a traceable parent make an agent auditable. Without lineage you cannot tell competence from luck.

A hackathon deadline is a cheap experiment with a real jury. The submission is not the research. The build log is.
